random mouse clicks on the same spot and then right-click menu pops up

Hi,

I am having an issue (see linked short video below) with random repeated mouse clicks on my surface studio (not done by me) at the same spot. Then, the right-click menu pops up. This constantly switches the focus to the clicked spot and prevents me from doing anything productive on my computer.

I have tried many solutions online and I even factory reset my computer, but it did not help. Any suggestions what is causing this?

    Hi Houssein15,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community. We're sorry for the trouble this has caused you.

I am aware that you are experiencing issues with your Surface Studio, which randomly repeats mouse clicks and pops up the right-click menu in the same spot. It seems that your Surface experiences a phantom or ghost touches. Let us both isolate the issue.

You may try to perform the following steps below.

Force the device to shut down and restart.

Press and hold down the power button until your Surface shuts down and restart and you see the Windows logo screen (about 20 seconds), then release the power button.

    Check Windows Updates

Go to Settings >> Windows updates >> Check for updates.

Boot to UEFI and see if issue is present.

Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) is a type of software that helps Windows communicate with your Surface’s hardware. Because UEFI operates independently of Windows, testing hardware in UEFI will work if you have a hardware issue.

Follow these steps to boot to UEFI and test touch functionality:

    1. Go to Start > Power > Shut down.
    2. When Surface is off, press and hold the volume up button and press the power button until a Microsoft or Surface logo appears onscreen.
    3. Once you are in UEFI, see if the problem persists.

If the issue does not exist in UEFI, then we know the symptom is being influenced by software such as Windows or other applications.

Uninstall HID-compliant Touch screen driver and restart.

    1. Open Device Manager.
    2. Go to Human Interface Devices.
    3. Expand Human Interface Devices, and right click HID-Compliant Touch Screen.
    4. Right click on HID-Compliant Touch Screen and select Uninstall. If there is more than one driver, uninstall those as well.
    5. Restart your Surface and attempt to reproduce the issue.

    Reset your Surface.

Try resetting your Surface. To learn how, see Restore or reset Surface for Windows and follow the recommended steps for "Reset this PC."

Let me know how it goes.

    Kind regards,

    Lavenia
