Installing or updating Microsoft Edge on macOS
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
OS - Linux Mint 21.2 kernel version 5.15.0-121-generic all updates installed.
Edge - Version 126.0.2592.102 (Official build) (64-bit)
The three dots in the upper right corner have a red circle with an arrow pointing upward, usually indicating there is an update and I need to restart the browser. However, instead of the usual Update message, the message reads Microsoft Edge is out of date. Searching here only brings up old posts for Windows 10, the solutions to which do not apply to this operating system.
FYI I chose Android for the operating system to tag this post with only because that was the closest to correct.

Thanks Tommy, but I fixed the problem. In case anyone else has the same problem, here is what I found.
Microsoft recently changed the way Edge is distributed for Linux. FYI this also happened for Skype. Instead of distributing via repository packages (apt package manager), they are now distributing it via Flatpak. I had to uninstall completely, reboot, then reinstall from Flatpak. The only drawback was I lost all of my Favorites. Any else doing this, make sure you export your Favorites first! Then, reimport them to Edge. For some reason, it retained all of my other settings. I don't have sync turned on, it is disabled for my organization.
