My Minecraft account e-mail is not working.

To start with some context, I had created my microsoft account with the domain @gmail.com and was gifted minecraft by my friend just a few days ago, on 19 December. I still have the gift email as proof of purchase. I was playing minecraft normally until I went afk for a few hours. When I came back I was kicked from the server (donut smp) and was sent to the menu. However when I tried to rejoin the game, it told me that there was a problem with the launcher and the game and that I needed to close the game and the launcher and reopen them to fix the problem. I did as I was told but when I opened the launcher again it asked me to set up microsoft hello and forced me to say ok. after I pressed ok it sent a login verification code to some random email my microsoft account wasn't associated with at all and told me to check the verification code in that inbox, giving me no opportunity to switch accounts. After I closed the XBOX tab leading me back to the un-signed in launcher, it went to the grey page saying sign in with microsoft which brought me back to the funny XBOX sign in which sent a verification code to somewhere else again. I then went to see if it was a problem with my microsoft account itself, (the domain was @gmail.com) by trying to log into my personal outlook account using my email. It told me that my account (that I had previously logged into minecraft with many times before to play) didn't exist and that if I wanted to I could use that email to make one. However it took me to the create a microsoft account page that told me I couldn't make an account in this name because there was already a user with this microsoft account (me). That then brought me back to the sign in page which still told me that the account didn't exist and that I could make a new one using that address. I then created this account to make this Q&A. Is there any way for me to recover my minecraft account? It is minecraft java and bedrock for PC and my username is<PII removed>

Go to https://account.live.com/acsr and attempt the account recovery process. You'll need to provide as much information as possible about your account.

    Hello Enigma Requiem,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Since this is a public forum, we will hide your personal identifiable information, we would advise you not to post your PII on your thread since that information is private to you and could bring more harm than good. Thank you for your understanding.

I see that you are having issue signing in to your account. Based on what you've described, your login email is no longer usable, and the verification code is sent to an email that you don't recognize. It's unfortunate to tell you this, but your account might have been hacked, and the hacker has already changed your login and verification email.

Since this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators, contributors including external Microsoft employees cannot directly intervene in Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Our role is limited to providing technical guidance on reported issues, requests, or ideas. In this case, please try to contact Microsoft Support, they will have more expertise and the proper tool to assist you with recovering your account. You also mentioned that you have a gamertag associated to play Minecraft, so, if necessary, you can also reach out to Xbox Support.

The ACSR form that the previous person provide is a useful tool to reset your password and regain access to your account. While it might not be able to help if your log in email has been changed, the information it required might prove useful in case you were asked by support to prove account ownership, you should take a look at what the form requires as well. Additionally, you should also prepare a new account in case it is required to recover your Minecraft account. (The old account could possibly be reused. But it is not recommended since it is already hacked once.)

    Thank you for your understanding.
