Unable to delete a Poll from Teams Chat

Based on your description, you posted a poll to a Teams group chat and then needed to completely edit or remove it but the original poll could not be deleted. I truly understand your effort in reviewing guidance, trying the suggested steps, and creating a new poll so your coworkers could continue voting. 

In Teams chat, polls created with the Polls app that is powered by Microsoft Forms cannot be edited after posting. Deleting the poll in Microsoft Forms stops new votes, however the poll card stays visible in the chat. Options to delete the poll message inside chat depend on organization policies and are not available in many tenants. 

Below is a clear path that suits your situation: 

1. Close the poll: open the poll card, choose View results, select the menu (…) and choose Close poll. 
2. Delete the underlying form: go to forms.office.com, open Group forms, find the poll and choose Delete to prevent new responses. 
3. Redirect participants: reply under the original poll with the link to your new poll and ask teammates to use the updated one. You can also hide the old poll from your view. 
4. Contact your Teams administrator: request enabling Owners can delete messages if supported and review chat retention policies that can remove old poll messages after a set period.
