Cannot Add Guests to Teams Channel – Self-Employed Account, No IT Admin

Hello,

I am unable to add any guests to my Teams channel. Every time I try, I receive the following error message:

“Looks like there was an issue. Try adding this person. If it doesn’t ask your IT admin to add them.”

Since I am self-employed, I do not have an IT admin, because this is my own account. Additionally, I only have 7 other people in the channel, so it cannot be an issue with exceeding member limits.

It is also not a problem with the guest’s email address, because I am unable to add any email address at all in any channel, and I receive the same error message every time.

Could you please advise where the issue might be and how I can resolve it?

    To add external users to a private channel, you must first add them to the Team. If you don't want guests to access the Team itself, create a shared channel and add them there. Note that enabling shared channels requires some setup.

    One last thing to note: not all companies have external chat enabled in Teams. This means that you might try to add someone and it's blocked.
