Pending Changes Filter in Solution Explorer not working

The most common reason for the Pending Changes filter returning no results in Solution Explorer—even when Team Explorer shows the pending change—is that the modified file is not formally included in the project you currently have open, or there is a localized cache glitch. Solution Explorer's filter only applies to files actively tracked by the loaded .sln or .csproj.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve this:

1. Verify File Inclusion (Show All Files)

At the top of the Solution Explorer, toggle on the Show All Files icon.

Navigate to the folder containing _FooterPartial.cshtml.

If the file has a dotted or hollow icon, it is excluded from the project structure. Right-click the file and select Include in Project. Once included, the Pending Changes filter should immediately pick it up.

2. Confirm the Active Solution Map

Double-check that the .sln file currently open in Visual Studio is the exact one that maps to the directory where _FooterPartial.cshtml resides in your TFVC workspace. If you opened a folder view instead of the solution file, the filter may not function correctly.

3. Clear the Visual Studio Cache (.vs folder)

If the file is definitely included in the project, your local VS workspace cache might just be out of sync with the source control provider.

Close Visual Studio 2022.

Open Windows File Explorer and navigate to your solution's root directory.

Ensure hidden items are visible in Windows, and delete (or rename) the hidden .vs folder.

Reopen your solution in Visual Studio. This forces VS to rebuild the local cache and often restores the correct source control status icons and filters.
