I joined Microsoft Teams today with my new work account. I can chat with all my colleagues except one user. She is in the same organization and can send messages to me, but i cannot reply. The chat box is disabled and displays the message: "Wait for Sharon to reply to continue messaging." Restarting teams did not resolve the issue.

    Dear @Katherine Blake,

In this case, I recommend you contacting your IT Admin and ask them if Sharon is being seen as an external/guest/duplicate identity or whether a messaging policy/chat request state is stuck for your new work account in Teams. How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

In the meantime, kindly try these steps:

1> Try Teams on the web

Try to use Teams on web and check if the issue happens.

    2> Clear Teams cache

Please refer to this article to clear Teams cache. Clear the Teams client cache - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn

    3> Reinstall Teams

In Start Menu, open Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Teams > three dots (...) > Uninstall

Download Teams desktop again via this link: Download Teams Desktop and Mobile Apps | Microsoft Teams [d9ee-f660-d97-4171]

I hope the information shared helps point you in the right direction. Please try the steps above and let me know if they work. If not, we can continue working together to narrow this down.

The first response may not always resolve the issue right away, but with your help and more details, we can work toward a solution.

It appears that this is a known issue which is still being investigated.
