Skype Dial Pad calls fail on all devices — mic-permission error, but Teams works

Since the May 2025 Skype retirement, the Skype Dial Pad won't connect any call. Every attempt, on every device, returns: "To make this call, Skype needs permission to use your microphone."

Microsoft Teams audio and video calls work perfectly on the same devices — iMac (Edge, Firefox, Chrome, desktop Teams app) and Android (Teams, Firefox, Chrome). Only the Dial Pad fails.

Already tried: reinstalled apps, multiple browsers, reset mic permissions, another headset, cleared cache. No change.

Since only the Dial Pad fails and it follows the account across all devices, this looks account- or service-side rather than a local mic setting. Is this a known Dial Pad provisioning issue after the Skype retirement, and how is Dial Pad calling restored on the account?

This is what I was seeing when first time attempting to make call from Skype Dial Pad on Android phone.

If you have selected "DENY" or checked the option "Do not ask again", then this prompt might not be shown.

Try to open Skype Dial Pad page in your Chrome browser. Check microphone permission for this site in this browser.

In Skype Dial Pad page select Settings -> Audio.

What device do you see selected there as your Microphone?

Make the "Test audio" call. What happens then?
