Screen Sharing Becomes Blurry with Multiple Guests on Teams Web App in Linux

I am experiencing an issue with screen sharing in Microsoft Teams through the web app on Linux.

When I join a Teams meeting using the Teams web app and share my screen:

With only one guest/participant viewing my shared screen, the screen sharing works normally and the quality is clear.

When the number of guests/participants increases, the shared screen gradually becomes blurry.

With multiple participants viewing the shared screen, the screen can become extremely blurry, making text and other content difficult to read.

The issue occurs specifically when multiple users are viewing the shared screen.

The same screen-sharing session works correctly when there is only one participant.

Environment:

OS: Ubuntu/Linux

Application: Microsoft Teams Web App

Browser: Chromium/Google Chrome

Scenario: Teams meeting → Share screen → Multiple participants view the shared screen

Steps to reproduce:

Open Microsoft Teams Web App on Linux.

Join a Teams meeting.

Share the entire screen.

Have one participant view the shared screen — the quality is clear.

Add additional participants to the meeting.

Ask multiple participants to view the shared screen.

The shared screen becomes significantly blurred.

Expected behavior:
The shared screen should remain clear and readable regardless of the number of participants viewing it.

Actual behavior:
Screen-sharing quality deteriorates significantly as the number of participants viewing the shared screen increases, eventually becoming very blurry.

This appears to be related to multi-user screen-sharing in the Teams Web App on Linux, rather than an issue with the screen itself, because screen sharing works correctly when only one participant is viewing it.

    Dear Bipin,

Thank you for the clear reproduction steps, that is very helpful. Because the share is clear with one viewer but degrades as more participants join, this may involve Teams' adaptive media quality, the Linux browser capture pipeline, or a current service-side regression, rather than a simple resolution problem.

I did find a recent thread from another user reporting very similar behaviour across both Windows and Linux devices here, so this may not be isolated to your setup. However, I could not find an official Microsoft advisory confirming a service-wide incident for multi-viewer sharing specifically.

For problems of this nature, I recommend that the Global Admin in your organization create a service request with Microsoft Support. A technical support engineer can perform a remote session to review the meeting telemetry directly, confirm whether the stream is being downgraded server-side, and escalate to the Teams engineering team if this turns out to be a regression. For detailed instructions on how to get support, please refer to Get support - Microsoft 365 admin. If you don't know who your IT administrator is, please refer to this article: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

I truly hope you get your issue resolved swiftly. Please know that even though I can't directly intervene, directing you to the correct, specialized support is the most effective help I can provide from my position. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please let me know if you need anything else. Wishing you all the best.
