Try these steps in order:
- Check that Airplane mode is off:
- Go to Start > Settings > Network & Internet > Airplane mode.
- Turn Airplane mode On, then turn it Off again.
- Select Wi-Fi and make sure Wi-Fi is On.
- If Airplane mode turns off but wireless still stays disabled:
- Go to Settings > Change PC Settings > Wireless.
- Turn the affected wireless device back on.
- This addresses a known case where wireless devices can remain off even after Airplane mode is turned off.
- Check the connection status:
- Select the Network, Sound, or Battery icon on the right side of the taskbar.
- Confirm Wi-Fi is turned on.
- If the network appears, select it and try to connect.
- Run the Windows network troubleshooter:
- Go to Start > Settings > Network and Internet.
- Select Status.
- Scroll down and select Network troubleshooter.
- Follow the on-screen steps.
- If the device is a Surface and the problem continues:
- Select Start > Power > Shut down.
- Wait a moment.
- Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds.
- If the logo appears after a few seconds, keep holding until the logo appears again.
If Wi-Fi appears again but internet still does not work, continue with the Windows Wi-Fi troubleshooting steps.
