    1

    Open the Settings App.

Go to Apps - Installed Apps.

Scroll down to find the Microsoft Photos app.

Select that app and choose Advanced Options.

Perform the Repair option and the Reset option on the app.

Then check if you can open your image files.

If not, uninstall the Photos app and restart (not shut down) your PC.

Then try installing the Photos app from the store using this link, if that is not successful, please provide a screenshot of any error you see.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Open Microsoft Store from Start and search for Microsoft Photos.
    2. If Microsoft Store does not open or the app will not download, reset the Store cache:
      • Press Windows key + R
      • Type wsreset.exe
      • Select OK
      • Wait for the blank Command Prompt window to close and for Microsoft Store to open automatically
    3. Restart the PC, then try installing Microsoft Photos again.
    4. If the app still does not appear or install, check these common causes:
      • The app is not available in the current country or region
      • Family settings are hiding apps
      • The app is no longer available
      • The app is not compatible with the device
      • Windows was updated but the PC was not restarted
      • The PC is not authorized to use Microsoft Store apps
    5. Make sure Windows is fully updated:
      • Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates
    6. Update Microsoft Store:
      • Open Microsoft Store
      • Select See more > Downloads and updates > Get updates
    7. If Photos is installed but image files still will not open, repair or reset the Photos app:
      • Open Settings > Apps > Installed Apps
      • Find Microsoft Photos
      • Open Advanced options
      • Run Repair, then Reset if needed

If the Photos app is missing from Start, search for Photos from Start. If it is not found, download it from the Store online.
