Updated my motherboard BIOS and lost Windows activation. The OEM key in firmware is no longer readable (PowerShell OA3xOriginalProductKey returns blank). I found a backup key in the registry (BackupProductKeyDefault: YTMG3-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX) which Microsoft licensing maps to Windows Professional, but my system runs Windows 11 Home. I've never run Pro on this machine. Can you retrieve my correct OEM Home key using my device serial number?

I purchased it from Micro Center in Richardson TX several years ago. They do their own in-house builds. So technically, it's probably not considered one of the "big names" like Dell or Lenovo.

I've upgraded the motherboard and CPU (twice) since then. Here's the screen shot:

    Hello

The license key in the registry is not relevant as it is not for activation purpose.

BIOS update usually doesn't remove an embedded OEM key.

There are two ways to use OEM license.

1 - it is embedded into the motherboard. Usually only big manufacturers like Dell, HP, etc can do this.

2 - it is manually entered. For this method, it is typically used by builders.

So my question for you is - is your computer a custom built computer, or a packaged one from one of the big names?

Can you please type cmd in the search on the taskbar and hit enter to launch command prompt, then run the following command:

    slmgr /dlv

Then share a screenshot please. Thanks!
