Microsoft Word - only readable in WebLayout

Suddenly, when I open some Word documents, makes changes and save, I can only see the entire text if I use web layout. I also started to receive pop out boxes when working in my word documents saying that i cannot include objects or photos. I close the box, continue my work, and the above happens. The pop out box does not Always show. I have also checked the settings inView, and forced the document between PrinLayout and Web Layout - with no success. I have updated Words and Microsoft August 15, 2026 and restarted the computer (Mackbook M1). What can i do to be able to adjust this problem?

The document may be damaged. Try the following: In Web Layout view, select everything except for the final paragraph mark (¶) of the document, copy, and paste into a new, blank document. Does that work around the problem?

If the document contains section breaks, you may have to copy each section (without the section break) separately into a new doc instead.

To show/hide paragraph marks, section breaks and other nonprinting characters, click the ¶ icon on the Home tab.

    Hi!

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Because this is happening only with some documents, I suspect a document-format/compatibility problem or a corrupt document rather than the view settings.

Do a quick test to isolate this issue by open a new file. Open Word → New Blank Document. Type several paragraphs, insert a picture(you can, save it, close Word, and reopen it. Then select View → Print Layout.

Let me know if there will be changes or the same error will appear.
