Hi, I'm currently trying to open Power Automate on my PC but I constantly get this error message.

I've tried clearing my OneDrive and resetting my computer but nothing works. For now, I saw lots of "Access denied" Q&A and tried to apply the answer to my case but it's not working.

Please help me on this. Thank you

    Hello,

I am experiencing the exact same issue.

Following the troubleshooting steps mentioned above, I have already verified that my OneDrive account is writable. I can successfully create and upload new files to OneDrive using the web browser, so the issue seems specific to Power Automate.

Here are the details of my error:

Error: One Drive Error - Database Is Read Only

    Correlation ID: 51116149-3015-4225-806d-c00e7f86a7e4

Any advice or further assistance on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    Hello @Tùng Nguyễn

The important part of the screenshot is “OneDrive error – Database Is Read Only.” I wouldn't treat this as a normal Windows file-permission/“Access denied” problem yet.

First, please verify whether the OneDrive account itself is writable:

    1. Sign in to OneDrive on the web using the same account.
    2. Try creating a folder or uploading a small test file.
    3. If that also fails or reports read-only access, the issue is with the OneDrive account/site, not the Power Automate desktop installation.

A OneDrive/SharePoint location can become read-only because of licensing, account, tenant, or site-state conditions. In that situation, repeatedly resetting or reinstalling the OneDrive client won't necessarily fix it.

If OneDrive works normally in the browser, then I would troubleshoot Power Automate for desktop separately:

    • Completely exit Power Automate from the system tray.
    • Make sure Power Automate for desktop is fully updated.
    • Sign out and back in using the correct Microsoft account.
    • If you're using a work/school account, confirm you're connected to the correct Power Platform environment.
    • Repair/reset Power Automate from Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Power Automate → Advanced options if that option is available.

Power Automate desktop flows depend on the Power Platform environment and Dataverse for their flow data. Microsoft notes that work/school users need an appropriate Dataverse database in the default environment to create desktop flows.

I would also avoid manually deleting or modifying Power Automate/OneDrive database files as a first troubleshooting step. That can turn a recoverable account or environment problem into lost local data.

Since the dialog provides a Correlation ID, keep that value. If OneDrive is writable in the browser but Power Automate still returns Database Is Read Only, you can provide the correlation ID and exact timestamp to Microsoft Support so they can correlate the failure with backend telemetry.

Could you confirm whether you can upload/create a file successfully in OneDrive on the web, and whether this is a personal Microsoft account or a work/school account? Those two details should narrow this down considerably.
