    Hi Shari Wallace,

I understand that you cannot access your Shaw email in classic Outlook and have not received new messages since June 8.

Please note that this is a user-to-user forum, so contributors cannot retrieve or reset your Shaw email password.

The Q&A Assist answer is correct that the password for pop3.shaw.ca is managed by Shaw rather than Outlook. Have you had a chance to try its recommended steps?

I would also like to add one important check: can you sign in directly to Shaw Webmail using the same email address and view messages received after June 8?

    • If Shaw Webmail also rejects the password or shows no new messages, Shaw Support will need to check the mailbox or help reset the password.
    • If Shaw Webmail works and contains the missing messages, please share the exact message shown by classic Outlook so the Outlook connection can be investigated further.

Before removing or re-adding this POP account, please back up any locally stored Outlook mail, as some POP messages may exist only on the computer.

I hope this helps narrow down whether the issue is with the Shaw mailbox or the Outlook connection.

For a Shaw POP/IMAP account, the password is not stored or managed by Outlook. It must be changed or confirmed with the email provider first, then updated in Outlook.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Check whether Outlook is offline.
      • In classic Outlook, look at the bottom of the window.
      • If it shows Working Offline, go to Send/Receive and select Work Offline to turn that off.
    2. Verify the Shaw account password on the provider side.
      • If the password was changed on the Shaw webmail/provider website, Outlook must be updated with the new password.
      • If the password is unknown, it must be reset through the email provider or email administrator.
    3. If Outlook prompts for the account password, enter the updated Shaw password.
      • In new Outlook, select the email account name, choose Continue, and complete the sign-in prompts.
    4. If Outlook says an app password is required, get that app password from the email provider and use it instead of the normal password.
    5. Check that the account settings match the provider’s POP/IMAP settings.
      • Incorrect incoming or outgoing server settings can stop mail from sending or receiving.
    6. If the account is Shaw and authentication suddenly stopped, check whether IMAP access is disabled in Shaw Webmail.
      • A reported resolution for Shaw accounts was re-enabling Allow IMAP in Shaw Webmail.
    7. If mail still does not arrive after the password is corrected, test internet connectivity in a browser.
      • If the internet connection is down, Outlook cannot reach the mail server.

If the issue is specifically a POP account and Outlook repeatedly asks for the password without connecting, one documented Outlook 2003 issue on Windows 7/Windows Server 2008 R2 occurs when Remember password is not selected.
