Look at the function keys (F1 - F12) on your keyboard, if one of them has a camera icon, press that key or Fn + that key to unlock the webcam.

    2

If that was not the problem, look at the camera lens above your screen, is there a small privacy slider that needs to be opened to access the webcam?

    3

If the webcam is still not working:

    A

Right click your Start Button and open Device Manager.

    Expand the 'Cameras' section.

Please provide a screenshot of that full Device Manager window.

    B

Click your Start Button, then just type msinfo and press Enter, please provide a screenshot of the resulting System Information window.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Run the camera troubleshooter.
      • Open the Get Help app and run the automated camera troubleshooter.
      • It can automatically diagnose and fix many camera problems.
    2. Check camera privacy settings.
      • Go to Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Camera.
      • Make sure Camera access is On.
      • Make sure Let apps access your camera is On.
      • If the setting cannot be changed, an administrator must enable it.
    3. Check the camera settings page.
      • Open Settings and go to the camera settings for the device.
      • Under Connected cameras, select the camera.
      • Use Troubleshoot to launch Get Help.
      • If the camera was disabled, enable it there.
    4. If the camera works only sometimes, enable basic camera driver mode.
      • Open Settings in Windows.
      • Go to the camera settings for the device.
      • Open Advanced camera options.
      • Turn on Basic camera driver mode.
      • Restart the app that uses the camera and test again.
      • This may reduce advanced camera features, but it can improve reliability.
    5. Reinstall the camera driver.
      • Open Device Manager.
      • Expand Cameras.
      • If listed, double-click the camera.
      • Open the Driver tab and select Uninstall Device.
      • Select Attempt to remove the driver for this device and then Uninstall.
      • Restart the laptop.
      • Warning: do not do this on Surface Pro X. On that device, uninstalling drivers may require a full system reset to restore them.
    6. Force a restart.
      • Select Start > Power > Shut down.
      • Wait a moment.
      • Then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds.
      • If the logo appears after a few seconds, keep holding until it appears again.
    7. Check for a hardware privacy block.
      • Some laptops have a camera on/off key on the keyboard or a physical privacy shutter over the camera.
      • If present, turn the camera back on or open the shutter.

If the camera still does not open after these steps, service or repair may be needed.
