On your Samsung Z Flip 7, are you trying to use the Outlook app or the Samsung Calendar app?

What type of email account has the calendar: Outlook.com/Hotmail, Microsoft 365, Gmail, or another account?

Thx for offering to help.

I have the Outlook app, Samsung calendar/contact apps and Gmail app on my phone. My Outlook emails are synced and come thru on my phone in both the Outlook and Gmail apps, but not my Outlook calendar. I'm trying to get my desktop Outlook calendar synced with my Z Flip 7. Updating Outlook contact data and then copying to Gmail is also a pain. Can't figure out why I my emails are synced but not my calendar or contacts. I believe it has to do with IMAP. Any help would be appreciated. Thx.

Hey John - also, for some reason my phone won't let me sync calendars....when I click on settings and then calendar, I have a question mark next to the 'switch'. When I click on that I get just a statement confirming what I need to do, but won't let me flip the switch. I'm using Outlook.com on my desktop. thx

When I open my phone and go to Settings > Applications > Outlook > Permissions, the Calendar and Contacts and Accounts are all enabled.....so....????

So I updated my setting from IMAP to Microsoft Exchange and the update changed by email account from my name @ gmail to "Outlook....."@outlook.com. Looks like I've lost all my calendar folders and emails are all jumbled....crap!!!

Hi Tom,

That actually explains the original problem. IMAP only syncs email. It does not sync calendars or contacts, which is why the calendar sync option was unavailable.

For now, please don’t delete any accounts or make any more changes.

When you changed from IMAP to Microsoft Exchange and it changed from your Gmail address to an @outlook.com address, you may simply be looking at a different mailbox/account. That does not necessarily mean your original email or calendar was deleted.

I first want to find out where your original calendar is actually stored.

On your computer:

Open Outlook and check whether your original calendar and calendar folders are still there.

Also sign in at Outlook.com in your browser and open Calendar. Are those same calendar entries and folders visible there?

When you changed IMAP to Exchange, did you make that change on the Samsung phone or on the computer?

Please don't move or delete anything yet. Once I know whether the calendar exists on Outlook.com or only in the desktop Outlook program, I can tell you the safest way to get it onto the phone without making the email situation worse.

To link an Outlook calendar to a Samsung Z Flip 7, use Outlook for Android and turn on calendar sync.

Install and sign in to Outlook for Android with the same Outlook account used on the desktop.
In the Outlook app, go to Settings > Calendar.
Turn on Sync calendars.
- This exports Outlook calendars and events to the phone’s default Android calendar app.
- Two-way sync is supported for Microsoft 365, Outlook.com, and hybrid modern authentication for on-premises mailboxes.
If the calendar does not appear, in Outlook go to Calendar, open the left navigation, and make sure Calendar is selected for the account.
On Android, check app permissions:
- Open phone Settings > Applications > Outlook
- Make sure Contacts is enabled
- In Outlook, go to Settings > tap the account > turn on Sync Contacts if needed
If sync still does not work, in Outlook go to Settings > tap the account that is not syncing > Reset Account.
If that still fails, delete and re-add the account, and make sure it is added as Exchange or Exchange ActiveSync, not IMAP.

Important:

IMAP and POP do not sync calendar or contacts; they sync email only.
If the account is added as IMAP, remove it and re-add it as Exchange/Exchange ActiveSync.
