I have a new Win 11 PC and want to transfer my Office Professional Plus 2013(2015) from my old Win 10 PC. I bought it from Microsoft Home Use Program years ago and have the Product code but it is not listed on My Account page. How do I go about transferring it? Originally I had an email with a link to enable me to install it. I searched the problem and found the following link https://officeredir.microsoft.com/r/rlidO15C2RMediaDownload?p1=db&p2=en-US&p3=ProfessionalRetail but when I tried to download it Smart App Control stopped me from opening it.

    Hello @keith hudson

Since your copy is Office Professional Plus 2013 obtained through the Microsoft Home Use Program (HUP), I wouldn't use the officeredir.microsoft.com URL you found as the primary way to reinstall it. The installer must match the exact Office edition and licensing channel associated with your product key.

Office Professional Plus 2013 Home Use Program was a recognized Office 2013 edition, but Office 2013 reached end of support on April 11, 2023. It no longer receives security updates or Microsoft technical support.

For an older HUP purchase, the key is recovering the original HUP order/installation information. Microsoft guidance for Professional Plus 2013 HUP purchases made before November 30, 2018, has historically directed users to retrieve the purchase using the work email address originally used for the HUP order.

    I would proceed as follows:

    1. Do not uninstall Office 2013 from the old Windows 10 PC yet. Keep the working installation until you've confirmed that you can obtain the correct installer and activate the new installation.
    2. Locate the original HUP purchase email, product key, and installation media/download if you still have them.
    3. If you can recover the original HUP installer, install the matching Office Professional Plus 2013 HUP edition on the new PC and use your existing key.
    4. If activation reports the license is already in use, you may need Microsoft's activation/licensing assistance rather than buying another key right away.
    5. Avoid downloading Office 2013 ISO/setup files from unofficial third-party sites. With older Office releases, there's a significant risk of getting modified media or an installer for the wrong licensing channel.

Another important consideration with the new PC: Office 2013 is not a supported Office configuration on Windows 11 today. Microsoft's current Windows/Office support matrix lists newer perpetual Office releases supported on Windows 11, while Office 2013 has already passed its lifecycle.

So even if you install and activate Office 2013, I wouldn't recommend keeping it long-term on an Internet-connected Windows 11 PC because it no longer receives security fixes.

Regarding Smart App Control, I wouldn't disable it permanently simply to run an old installer obtained from an uncertain URL. First, obtain the installer from your original Microsoft HUP purchase source and verify its origin.

    Microsoft's lifecycle information is here:

    Microsoft - Office 2013 lifecycle

If you still have the 25-character product key, you can also mention whether the old installation shows Professional Plus 2013 under File → Account. That will help confirm the edition before you remove anything from the old PC.

Thanks Stephan, I tried the link but I no longer have access to the original email address that I used to purchase Office 2013.

Thanks for the follow-up. Do you know why the original e-mail no longer works? Note that if it is because you have left the company you were with at the time of the purchase, then you are no longer eligible to use the product. See the very last question in the FAQ at the bottom of the page at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/workplace-discount-program/order-history?msockid=0706decf1f4c66241729c8bb1b4c60a6 .
