    Hi melissa price,

I understand how concerning this situation must be, especially if you relied on the browser for important files and saved information.

Before making any further changes, please avoid resetting, uninstalling, or reinstalling the browser again, as this may make any remaining local data more difficult to locate. At this point, I recommend that you review and try the steps provided in the AI generated answer on your thread. That reply typically include the most relevant checks for this scenario.

Could you first check the Downloads folder in File Explorer and the Recycle Bin? If the Downloads folder was backed up to OneDrive, please also check the OneDrive Recycle Bin.

It would also help to clarify whether:

    • The actual downloaded files are missing from the Downloads folder, or only the download list inside the browser is gone.
    • The removed browser was Microsoft Edge or another browser.
    • You use the browser with a personal Microsoft account or through a work or school organization.
    • The entire browser profile was removed, or only the browser application itself.

Additionally, how did you contact the support representative who accessed your device? Was the session arranged through the official Microsoft Support website, the Get Help app or another website or service? Please do not post any case numbers, email addresses, phone numbers, or other personal information publicly.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators and contributors, including external Microsoft employees, cannot directly access support records or back-end systems, or intervene in a previous remote support session. My role is limited to providing technical guidance based on the information shared in this thread.

I know this isn’t the news you were hoping for, but I wanted to make sure you received the most accurate guidance for your situation. Thank you so much for your understanding.

For Microsoft Edge content, the supported recovery options in the available guidance are limited to favorites and synced history.

    • Favorites: If the browser was signed in to a Microsoft account and sync was turned on, deleted favorites can be restored from the Favorites menu.
      1. Open Edge.
      2. Select the Favorites icon, or press Ctrl + Shift + O.
      3. Select the Restore deleted favorites icon in the top-right of the Favorites menu.
      4. Right-click the favorite or folder to recover, then select Restore.
      5. Only favorites deleted within the last 28 days can be restored this way.
    • History sync: If browsing history was synced, check Edge sync settings:
      1. Open Settings and more > Settings > Profiles > Sync.
      2. Verify History is turned on.
    • If Edge is not working correctly after the removal, use the Edge repair/troubleshooting guidance from Microsoft.
    • If the missing content includes account-related data or access issues, use Microsoft account support or contact Microsoft Support.

The provided guidance does not include a supported recovery method for restoring downloads, all sites, or all saved browser content as a whole after the browser was removed.
