Master Data Services (MDS) is removed in SQL Server 2025 (17.x). We continue to support MDS in SQL Server 2022 (16.x) and earlier versions.
Create a Master Data Services database when you need a new database to support the Master Data Manager web application and Master Data Services web service.
Prerequisites
- For information about the requirements for the computer that hosts the database, see Database Requirements (Master Data Services).
To create a Master Data Services database
Open Master Data Services Configuration Manager.
In the left pane, click Database Configuration.
On the Database Configuration page, click Create Database.
Complete the Create Database wizard to create and configure the database. For information about the user interface (UI) options in the wizard, see Create Database Wizard (Master Data Services Configuration Manager).
