為了向下相容 Active Directory 同盟服務（AD FS）1.0 版本，Windows 身份基礎（WIF）允許設定 wtrealm 參數或 wreply 參數（或兩者皆可）以使登入訊息有效;然而，WS-Federation 協定要求登入請求中必須包含 wtrealm 參數。 在大多數情況下，你應該確保 wtrealm 參數有指定。
