Mine coin balance showing as zero despite redeeming giftcard

I set up a family profile for my child and purchased a specific minecoin giftcard to add to the account. The code has been successfully redeemed against their Microsoft account and I can see the purchase of 3500 coins, but when I log in to their Minecraft account the balance is zero.

I have updated the settings to age 10 as I saw this in a previous forum but the balance still shows at zero. How do I refresh it so that they can spend the minecoins?

It isn't clearly stated anywhere, but after redeeming Minecoins, it seems that the player needs to visit the Marketplace in game before the value changes. Redemption is essentially a two step process:

    • Redeem online
    • Visit the Marketplace in game

They only let you redeem one card a time, so you need to repeat those steps for subsequent cards:

    1. Redeem one Minecoins card
    2. Open Minecraft and visit the Marketplace
    3. Close Minecraft
    4. Repeat

Same issue here. 24-48 hours is quite excessive, especially when there is zero feedback that it is processing.

Hello Emma. If your Minecoin balance reads as zero after redeeming a gift card, it is most likely due to a processing delay, or a possible mismatch between the redeemed account and the account used in the game. While it may show that the code was applied successfully to your child’s Microsoft account, the coins will not show as being available to spent in Minecraft unless that same account was signed in to play the game. Additionally, it can take as long as 24–48 hours for Minecoins to reflect after they have been redeemed.

The first step is to confirm that the code was redeemed to the right Microsoft account by checking with Microsoft’s redemption page, check the order history, and confirm in the Minecraft app that the same account is signed in. You can try restarting the device, and re-sign into Minecraft, as this can help synchronize the balance.

If after 48 hours this is not resolved, please reach out to Minecraft Support for further assistance.

Please let me know if you have further questions or this helps.

    Best regards,
