I have been billed Rs 429000 for a service which I have not used. I had just had subscribed to free tier. Could you please helpppp

Even if you think you’re only on the free tier, Azure can still generate charges (for example, if a resource/workspace/service is still active, if free-credit conditions are exceeded, or if something was enabled/created and never fully stopped/deleted).

Here’s what you can do right now:

1) Identify exactly what is causing the charge

In the Azure portal, check Cost Management + Billing:

• Go to Cost Management
• Select Analyze costs (or Cost analysis)
• Look for a breakdown by Service name and/or Resource group
• Try to find which service (for example, “AI and Machine Learning” or “Azure Database for …”) is contributing to the billed amount

This helps confirm whether the charge is coming from an actual resource that’s still running, or from something else billed under that service category.

2) Make sure nothing related is still running (even if you see no “resources”)

In many billing investigations, the common issue is that resources can remain active even after the user stops using them, or there may be dependencies that still incur cost. So after you identify the service in Cost analysis, check inside that service’s area for any active components (workspaces, databases, etc.).

3) Create a free Azure Billing support request (best next step)

If you believe the billing is incorrect or for something you’re not using, you can contact the Azure billing team. Creating a billing support request is free for Azure customers and doesn’t require a paid support plan.

• Click Create a support request
• Choose Billing for the issue type
• Select your Subscription
• Submit the request with details of the unexpected charges
