I'm having a recent issue where I'm being asked to use a verification code sent to my Gmail account but when I attempt to access this Gmail account the account cannot be found using the following username "******@outlook.com" but when the username "Gtapapiaccnt" is used to create a @outlook account it says "username is already taken." id like to access my account as i have important information linked to the account and would like to access is but i am also curious on what it is that is happening. if anyone could help with this issue that would be great thank you for your time.

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

Could you please clarify the email addresses involved?

Is @outlook.com the Microsoft account you are trying to sign in to, and is your Gmail address the email account where Microsoft is sending the verification code?

May I please know when was the last time you were able to sign in with your Microsoft account (**@outlook.com) successfully?

Please note that if you haven't signed in with your Microsoft account for more than 2 years, your account will be put into an inactive state and will be closed. You cannot even use the account recovery form to regain access to your account.

So, if you haven't signed in with your @outlook.com account for more than 2 years, it would have been permanently deleted. Also, due to security reasons, Microsoft no longer allows the recreation of email address that is being deleted.
