Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
The monthly charge is most likely for a Microsoft subscription tied to the Microsoft account used on the PC, not because Microsoft 365 was "built in" to the device.
A Free badge at Microsoft365.com means there is no active Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, or Premium subscription on the account, and only the free web versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are available. A Subscribed badge means a paid Microsoft 365 subscription is associated with the account.
A small monthly charge is commonly Microsoft 365 Basic, which includes 100 GB of cloud storage and extra email benefits. A full Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription includes desktop apps and 1 TB of cloud storage.
To check exactly what is being billed:
- Go to the Services & subscriptions page at account.microsoft.com/services?ref=officesupport.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account used on the desktop.
- Look for an active subscription and select Manage.
- If the subscription was bought through Microsoft, the billing and management options will appear there.
- If nothing appears, try any other Microsoft account that may have been used.
If the subscription was purchased through Currys or another third-party retailer, Microsoft does not manage that payment directly. In that case, the retailer must handle the subscription and recurring billing.
If the charge still cannot be identified, use Microsoft’s billing investigation page to trace the payment.
