I bought a new Surface 13 Pro laptop. I was using it for about 4 months. Suddenly one day when i booted, it showed a white screen. The display comes on an extended screen but just the laptop screen goes white.

I took it to Geek Squad. They took and week and returned saying no spare parts. Then I went to MS authorized dealer, they also said the same thing.

    1. External display works fine → confirms the fault is isolated to the internal display module/connection, not the GPU or motherboard. This is a clean, well-defined hardware defect.
    2. Device is only ~4 months old → well within Microsoft's standard 1-year Limited Hardware Warranty.
    3. "No spare parts" from Geek Squad and the authorized dealer just reflects stock gaps at those specific repair channels — not a dead end. As a newer model, display module stock can lag for months at third-party service points after launch.

Go straight to Microsoft, not a reseller/repair partner. Third-party Authorized Service Providers depend on parts allocation from Microsoft, and if they're out, they often just... stop, rather than escalating. Microsoft itself has more visibility and options.

Go to Get Service for your Surface (support.microsoft.com → Surface → Repair & Service) or the Surface Support Portal, sign in, and register a service request directly with Microsoft for your device's serial number and proceed accordingly.
