One thing the AI didn't mention is that if you see the "account doesn't exist" error, it means the person who compromised your account added their own address as the primary alias and then deleted yours. If your address used a Microsoft domain as yours did, that address is permanently disabled and can never be used again for any purpose including creating a new account or regaining the original account. I believe you will never recover that account. If you had any payment methods associated with the account, immediately contact the issuer of the payment method and have It reissued. If you have any other accounts on any service whatsoever that used that same username and password, those accounts are also in danger. Passwords should never be used for more than one account and you should always enable two-factor authentication or passkeys for any accounts that support them.
